Sullivan Lake
Starting in the northern portion of Pend Oreille we find Sullivan Lake and Sullivan Creek which feature sullivan lakecampgrounds available to the public. There are a total of three campgrounds in the area, North Sullivan Lake campground, West Sullivan Lake campground, and Sullivan Creek campground. The lake features abundant recreation including, swimming, fishing, boating, hiking and more. Each campground is fully equipped with restrooms, water and services, boat docks and a designated swimming area.

Sullivan lake is large at 1291 acres and a depth of 320 feet, the campground features 2200 ft of shoreline for your enjoyment. While in the area you’ll want to be aware of the abundant wildlife which include both grizzly and black bears, cougars, elk, moose, white-tail deer, bald eagles and the last heard of caribou in the U.S.

Garner Caves
The Garner Caves are the third largest limestone cave network in the state of Washington. The caves are located neargarner caves the Canadian border in northern Pend Oreille County.

Throughout the spring and summer months guided tours are available to the public, the cave tour will take you nearly 100 ft into the earths crust. You’ll have an opportunity to see stalactites (from the ceiling) and stalagmites (from the ground) that have been forming for an estimated 500 million year.  Be prepared as the caves are quite cool inside, in fact, they maintain an average of 43 degrees throughout the year.

Boundary Dam
On the Pend Oreille River is situated the Boundary Dam, owned and operated by Seattle City Lights, the dam produces more than one third of Seattle City’s power. Tours are available from Memorial Day through Labor Day and are offered free to the public. While visiting you’re welcome to use the campsites, and boat launch, they are also free to the public.
